What's my overall GPA?
High School students, use this calculator to determine the outcome of this semester's grades on your overall average. To calculate your cumulative average, enter in your current GPA and number of classes from previous semesters; then this semester's grades and credits. If you are taking AP, honors, IB or college prep classes, select the corresponding class type to calculate your weighted GPA. This calculator uses the standard US scale where a regular class A is worth 4.0 points. An AP/Honors/IB A is worth 4.5 and a College Prep A is worth 5.0 grade points. This calculator will calculate both your semester's weighted and unweighted GPA.
This calculator uses the standard (4.0) four point U.S. high school GPA scale outlined in the tables below in order to convert your letter grades to numerical points. AP, honors and IB classes are awarded an additional half point (+0.5) for each class and college prep classes are awarded an additional full point (+1.0). Your semester's GPA is calculated as the sum of all the points earned, divided by the number of classes taken. This calculation method should be accurate for most U.S. high schools, though some use different methods. You may optionally calculate your cumulative GPA through this semester by entering it in the prior semester input boxes. The cumulative calculation will only be accurate if you also enter the total number of classes taken in prior semesters. Look on your prior report card for these values.
